Surf camps start every Saturday
On Saturday, check-in is from 2:00 pm and check-out is the next Saturday at 10:00 am
If you wish to check in on a different day than Saturday, please write to us, and we will do our best to coordinate it
Costa Rica has two international airports, the Juan Santa María International Airport (SJO) and the Daniel Oduber Quirós Airport (LIR).
Air: On the peninsula, we have the local airport, Cóbano, conveniently located for your travel needs. We can arrange transfers for you from the airport directly to the Surf Camp, making your arrival as smooth as possible.

By land: Direct shuttles are available from the airports of Liberia and San José to Funny Wave Surf Camp. The journey takes approximately 6 hours from San José and about 4 hours from Liberia. Please note that there is one shuttle per day, so it’s important to coordinate your travel plans with the shuttle company.

1. Two comfortable swimsuits for surfing, remember that the waves can play a trick on us.

15. Cash , in Costa Rica the dollar is accepted as well ($100, $20, $10, $5 and $1 bills only, no coins accepted), there are also ATMs in the area if you need one.

At Funny Wave Surf Camp, everyone is welcome to learn to surf, even the little ones! We understand that parents may be hesitant about bringing their children to our camp, we have instructors dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience. Children as young as 3 years old can start enjoying the waves with our professional instructors, who will teach them proper surfing techniques while making sure they have fun in the water.

Important Information Regarding Travel Insurance
Please note that in Costa Rica, there is no universal insurance that covers all activities at Funny Wave Surf Camp. Therefore, we kindly ask that each guest arrives with their own travel insurance.
Travel insurance is essential to ensure that all guests are protected in the event of unforeseen circumstances or accidents during their stay. While we hope nothing happens, it’s always best to be prepared and have peace of mind knowing you’re covered.
Upon check-in at Funny Wave Surf Camp, you will be required to sign a liability release document, as well as provide a copy of your passport and your travel insurance. This information will be kept in our first aid kit for any medical emergencies.
Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and these measures help us guarantee a secure and enjoyable experience during your time at our surf camp.
We understand that sometimes you may need to work while on vacation, which is why we offer complimentary Wi-Fi for all our guests. Our internet connection provides speeds of 15 megabytes, making it the fastest and most reliable option in Cabuya for smooth and efficient browsing.

Cabuya, with its tropical climate, enjoys an average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius (82 degrees Fahrenheit) year-round. While the rainy season brings more frequent showers, it’s common for rains to occur at night, leaving plenty of time to enjoy great waves during the day.

Funny Wave Surf Camp is situated in Cabuya, a charming coastal community on the Nicoya Peninsula in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. One of the unique features of Cabuya is that it’s the only place in Costa Rica where you can witness both the sunrise (just a 5-minute walk from the camp) and the sunset (a short drive away in Santa Teresa) on the same day.
