At Funny Wave, we have trained local instructors who provide a unique surfing experience for adults, teenagers, and children. Our instructors grew up in the area, giving them extensive knowledge of the beaches where surf lessons take place. At Funny Wave, we operate with a 1 instructor to 2 student, and for children, we assign 1 surf instructor per child. This approach ensures safe and steady progress in their surfing skills throughout the entire week.

We have black belts and brown belts at our training facility. We offer an outdoor dojo that allows you to train with the fresh mountain breeze, just 8 km from our surf camp. We also conduct training sessions on the beach.

Training locations vary depending on weather conditions.

At Funny Wave, we offer charming self-contained rooms surrounded by a lush garden. These rooms can comfortably accommodate 2, 3, or even 4 guests, each equipped with private bathrooms and air conditioning to ensure your complete comfort throughout your stay. Furthermore, we provide Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling you to stay connected with work, family, and friends during your visit.

Additionally, we’ve created a communal area where our guests can come together to enjoy board games, share stories, or enjoy the drinks that we will have available for our guests.

As proud Costa Ricans, we consider food prepared with love essential. That is why at Funny Wave we believe that in order for our guests to have a complete Costa Rican experience, it is important that they savor the delicious Costa Rican cuisine prepared with care by our kitchen staff. Cabuya is a fishing village, so the seafood that you will enjoy here is of the highest quality and freshness. In addition, our kitchen has other organic products, as our grandparents used to say, from our fertile lands to our table.

You will have the opportunity to try dishes and drinks that are not usually found in restaurants, dishes that contribute to the good health of our population. In fact, our Nicoya Peninsula is considered a Blue Zone, characteristic of places where people over 90 years of age usually live.

Your stay will include breakfast, lunch, dinner and happy hour.

Only in Full Funny Camp: from the moment we pick you up, your adventure begins. So you don’t have to worry about how to get to the Funny Wave Surf Camp in Cabuya, our staff will be ready to pick you up at the Tambor or Cóbano airport. We will need your information at least 2 days before your arrival to coordinate with our team. Before arriving at the camp, we will go through routes with impressive views of mountains and beaches.

We can also arrange transportation for your departure flight.

Transportation to surf lessons and adventures is included in each package

The surf and adventure spots will be determined day by day, as they depend on the weather conditions.

We have a section dedicated to those adventurous and energetic children. During these adventures, we will carry out various activities during the days of the camp, including hikes where we will explore waterfalls, rivers, beaches, and mountains. We will also have games and activities to foster bonding with other childrens, activities that we used to play in Costa Rica when we were kids, outdoor games far from unnecessary technology for wholesome fun and also, as we say in Costa Rica, so that they can sleep like a baby when night falls.
